Scorpions like hiding in enclosed spaces like shoes, drawers, cupboards and under clothes that are left on the floor so that they can ambush prey easily. It is a no wonder people are often stung on the hand or the foot. Children, old people, and pets are especially vulnerable.  If you are ever stung by a scorpion and you begin to show symptoms, you must see a doctor. Early treatment will save you.

There are various reasons why scorpions are very dangerous to the human race which we shall discuss in this article.

They are small and camouflage

Scorpions are small and can camouflage, making it hard to realize their presence. Scorpions do not go out of their way to sting people. Their instinct is to flee or give a threat display when disturbed. If a sting occurs, it usually is the result of the scorpion trying to defend itself from potential danger.

Many people are stung while walking barefoot around their home, near the pool, or in the garage. If a scorpion hurts a person, he/she should consult a medical professional for recommendations. If you suspect an infestation, you should always wear shoes. You should also consider hiring responsible pest control company to help clear the problem from your house.

They are deadly poisonous

 Almost all species of scorpion possess a venomous sting on the tip of their tail. However, it is only around twenty different species of scorpions around the world possess venom powerful enough to kill a man. Even when they have to use their sting, they can choose between a dry and wet sting based on the situation.

 In case of a dry sting, the scorpions only insert their stinger inside the body of the victim, but they inject no venom. They apply this kind of sting for defense and deterrence. In contrast, a wet sting involves the insertion of the stinger and injection of poison into the body of the victim or prey. They use this type of sting for hunting.

Patients who get stung by a scorpion are affected by the  symptoms like Local pain on the affected area but no swelling; numbness and tingling in parts of the body distant from the sting; trouble focusing eyes, Swallowing food, drooling and the tongue feels swollen; slurred speech;

Young children may rub their faces which may indicate facial numbness; muscle twitching; and restlessness, irritability, or hyperactivity.

Not all these symptoms will occur in every person, although some should appear in the first two-three hours. Children under ten years are at higher risk than other people.

We recommend that wash the sting site with soap and water. You may apply a cold compress to the sting site, but do not use ice directly. Numbness and tingling should pass away in time. If symptoms persist or are severe, seek medical attention.
